The qualities that set Lowry apart from other songwriters are his smooth, calming performance style, his engaging melodies, and the way his songs hit home and move his audience to identify with other people's experiences.

He shares his enthusiasm, insights and perspiration that inspired his five CDs of original songs, prompting CBC's Jurgen Gothe to write: "So long as Lowry Olafson releases a new CD each year, all is right with the world."

"No Experience Necessary" workshops will be useful and fun for songwriters at all levels, from complete beginner to the more experienced writer looking for new ideas and inspiration. Among the topics covered: Which comes first, the words or the music? How can I keep going when I keep getting stuck? How do I get helpful feedback? How do you co-write? Where can I go for new ideas?

Workshops are hands-on and each participant will be encouraged to write their own song. It gives students an overview of the songwriting process, and offers new inspiration, tools and information to take back to their daily lives.

Like any art, songwriting takes courage and perseverance. Workshops will help songwriters to "get on their own team", learn some powerful blockbusting techniques and take their work to a deeper level.
