A DAY TO REMEMBER
© 2007 Roosevelt Elementary School, Prince Rupert and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
A Day to Remember at Roosevelt

A day to remember at Roosevelt
Is every day of the week.
There's lots of excitement at Roosevelt
Our school is so unique.
There's so much going on
We're having so much fun,
Roosevelt's so cool
We're glad that it's our school.

A day to remember at Roosevelt
Is when everybody's here.
There's lots of adventure for all of us,
And it lasts all through the year.
There's Gymbaree at lunch
Drop in after school
Sometimes when it's Sports Day
We go swimming in the pool.

A day to remember at Roosevelt
Was when the principal shaved his head
And who can forget how at Hallowe'en
The haunted House fills us all with dread.
And if you survived
There's Night's Alive til five,
By now you might have guessed
We think Roosevelt's the best.

ALONG THIS DUSTY ROAD
© 2006 Sechelt Elementary School, Sechelt BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Along This Dusty Road

My feet are sore, I've walked so far,
I have no shoes, I am so poor,
The tourist busses pass me by,
Along this dusty road.

I wish that I could get a ride
And let go of my heavy load,
But I was born in poverty
Along this dusty road.

Chorus
If we could trade places
For just one day
If we could change races
Maybe then they'd see the way
It feels to be, a child of poverty.

We have only bread to eat
We get our water down the street
And we could use a little help
Along this dusty road.

Chorus

AMONG US
© 2006 Pender Harbour Secondary School, Pender Harbour BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Among Us

Among us there is a river that flows
On a journey to the open sea
And all of us drink from a common stream
We all share this common need

Chorus
Among are there are differences,
Things it's hard to hide.
It's easy to see the surfaces
Not who we are inside

Among us there is a forest that grows
Springing from a tiny seed
And all of us share the forest air
We all share this common need
We all share this common need.

Chorus

ANY KIND OF PIE
© 2006 Kinnickinnick Elementary School, Sechelt BC and Lowry Olafson, Alison Davies

  -- listen to
Any Kind of Pie

Chorus
Any kind of pie, any time of day,
I love any pie made the perfect way.
When the crust is flaky and the top is golden brown
Steaming hot, with ice cream dripping down
I love my pie, it makes me shout hooray, HOORAY!
I love any pie, any time of day.

Strawberry, rhubarb, lemon meringue,
Blackberry, apple and the whole shebang,
I love plum pie, cherry and banana too,
Any kind of pie is good for you.

Chorus

Raspberry, coconut and Saskatoon,
I eat pie for breakfast and pie at noon,
Any pie is better than alfalfa sprouts
Any pie but COW pie, you can leave IT out!

Chorus

AT THE BREAK OF DAWN
© 2007 Kanata Elementary School, Prince Rupert BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
At the Break of Dawn

Chorus
At the break of dawn, the robin sings
Its morning song, on graceful wings,
And the silent breeze, whispers to me
From across the pond,
At the break of dawn.

When the sun comes up,
And a new day begins,
The world awakes,
And you feel like sleeping in.
If you can just get out of bed,
Lift your weary head,
You'll feel the magic,
Every morning brings.

Chorus

The rising sun
Fills the earth with light,
And the early dew
Glistens oh so bright.
If you take a walk outside,
The forest is alive,
The clouds have turned to crimson
In the sky.

Chorus

BABY SANTA
© 2007 Quadra Elementary, Quathiaski Cove, BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Baby Santa

Chorus:
Baby Santa, playing in his new toy sleigh,
Dreaming of the world, all the boys and girls,
And the happiness he'll bring them, some day.

Once upon a snowy night,
Santa ran to get his sleigh,
Gave everybody quite a fright,
Baby Santa was born the next day.
They bundled him to keep him warm.
The reindeer loved him oh so much.
The elves were happy he was born.
Gave him toys and lots of cool stuff!

Chorus

His first words were "Ho Ho Ho!"
He grew a beard when he turned three,
Loved to slide out in the snow,
Loved to climb on Christmas trees.
He helped the elves to make the toys,
Test them all and shine them too,
Wrap them up for girls and boys,
So many things he loved to do!

Chorus

BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS
© 2007 Hart Highlands Elementary, Prince George BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Believe In Your Dreams

Sometimes we get lost
Sometimes we get hurt
You feel like you're all alone
You fall down in the dirt
But if you reach inside
And listen to your heart
Who knows what you might find

CHORUS
Believe in your dreams
And make them come true
'Cuz if you believe
Then that's what they do
If you reach for the sky
You might even fly
Set your heart free
Believe in your dreams

When you've got a dream
You've got to let it grow
Find a way to follow it
And never let it go
It's as precious as a pearl
And if you let it shine
You can share it with the world

CHORUS

BLACK BEAUTY
© 2006 Kamloops Arts Council, Kamloops BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Black Beauty

She always comes running when I call her name
When I'm standing at the fence, with a bucket full of grain.
She nuzzles at my pocket, while I stroke her silky ear.
There's no place I'd rather be than here.

Chorus
She's my Black Beauty
Running with the wind,
She's my Black Beauty
Truly born to win.
There's freedom in her eyesbr Spirit in her stride
How I love to take her reins and ride.

When I climb into the saddle,
I leave the world behind.
The rhythm of the ride
Always clears my mind.
We glide across the pasture
Wet with morning dew
I know Black Beauty loves this too.

Chorus X 2

BREAK AWAY FROM YESTERDAY
© 2006 West Sechelt Elementary School, Sechelt BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Break Away From Yesterday

Chorus
Break away from yesterday,
Leave the past behind.
Tomorrow is another day
So why not break away.

The phone rang this morning,
It was my best friend.
I told him how I was feeling
To discouraged to pretend
I said I felt like giving up,
Like going back to bed
He listened to my words,
And this is what he said:

Chorus

My friend said, "It's not easy,
But you can make it through.
Don't worry, just call me,
And I'll be there for you."
He said "I've felt this way myself,
But we can't always win,
Tomorrow will be brighter
And you can try again."

Chorus

BREAKING FREE
© 2007 Atlin School, Atlin BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Breaking Free

Chorus
Breaking free, it's up to you
It's up to me, there's nothing we can't do
If we don't give up, no telling where we could be
It's up to us, and we're breakin' free.

Can you find the courage within
When hard times get you down?
Can you break the shackles and chains
That confine you to the ground?
Can you find your voice
And give yourself the choice?
Break out from the pack
And everything that holds you back?

Chorus

Will you do everything that you can
When your future's looking bleak?
Will you take the ultimate risk
And climb the highest peak?
Will you make it right
And try with all your might?
Give a little more
And let your spirit soar!

Chorus

CAN YOU IMAGINE?
© 2006 Eagle Ridge Elementary School, Coquitlam BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Can You Imagine?

Chorus
Can you imagine,
Can you imagine___?
Can you imagine if the stars turned blue
And just like magic all your dreams came true?
Can you imagine you could hold the moon?
Can you imagine_____?

Just the other day, I heard the ocean breeze,
Calling out to me,
"If you believe that you can do it
You know that you'll get through it
Don't ever give up on your dreams."

Chorus

There's a whole world waiting, just for you
You can be who you want to be.
If you believe that you can do it,
Then there's nothing to it,
It's never as hard as it seems.

CHERRY CREEK
© 2006 John Howitt Elementary School, Grade 4 & 5, Pt Alberni BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek is a bubbling brook,
It flows from the mountainside.
In the spring, you can sit with your fishing rod,
And watch the world float by.
At Cherry Creek on the other side,
Where the kids play hide and seek,
The meadow is aglow with buttercups,
Down at Cherry Creek.

Chorus
Cherry Creek, flow forever
Cherry Creek, flowing by.

Chorus

Cherry Creek is a wonderful place
A magic place to me.
In the fall, you can watch the salmon run,
On their journey from the sea.
At Cherry Creek, when it's shivering cold,
And there's frost on all the trees,
You can slide on the ice across the bridge
Down at Cherry Creek.

Chorus

DANCING IN MY RED HIGH HEELS
© 2006 Tatla Lake School, Tatla Lake BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Dancing in my Red High Heels

Chorus
I'm dancing in my red high heels
On a Saturday night.
I'm dancing in my red high heels, 'cause it feels alright.
I go twirling across the floor

These shoes were handed down the line,
From my grandma down to me.
My mother gave them to me on the day I turned sixteen.
She said they felt like magic when you start to move,
And ever since that day, my feet have got the groove.

Chorus

It's so much fun to put them on and dance the night away
Forget about your worries, who cares what people say.
I'll go for gold in my red high heels, I'll show them what I've got.
Everyone will think I'm cool, 'cause these heels are burning hot!

Chorus

DISCO DOG AND CRAZY CAT
© 2007 J.L. Webster Elementary, Trail BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Disco Dog and Crazy Cat

Chorus
Disco Dog and Crazy Cat
Dancing through the town.
Only rascals could look like that,
They're the coolest guys in town.
Disco Dog and Crazy Cat,
They're the best of friends.
When you've got two guys like that,
The party never ends.

Disco Dog and Crazy Cat met one day at school.
They were wearing baseball caps,
And they both looked pretty cool.
Disco Dog said to Crazy Cat,
"Where'd you get a hat like that
Would you like to be my friend,
And we could start a brand new trend"

Chorus

Pretty soon everyone at school
Was wearing caps and fancy jewels,
Eating jumping jelly beans,
It was quite a crazy scene.
Going to class was so much fun,
We all got our homework done,
?And with nothing left to do,
The teachers started dancing, too.

Chorus

DON'T GIVE UP
© 2007 Lucerne Elementary, New Denver BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Don't Give Up

Chorus
Run away from your broken dreams,
Find a place to begin again.
There's better times that lie ahead
So don't give up, and don't give in.

She thought that she could do it,
She knew she had to try,
Born to be a writer, reaching for the sky.
She wrote a little story, put it in the mail
She didn't win the contest, she thought that she had failed.

Chorus

That's what her brother told her
When she came home in tears,
His arm around her shoulder,
He wiped away her fears.
"It's only the beginning, this is not the end.
I'll help you to get through it,
And you can try again."

Chorus

DOWN IN LOWER POST
© 2007 Denetia School, Lower Post BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Down In Lower Post

Chorus
When it's summertime, down in Lower Post
They're the days I like the most.
When the trout are biting, and the river runs,
Down in Lower Post.

There's a little village
By the Yukon border
Just past Lucky Lake
That's where I was born
A little piece of magic
Where my spirit stays.

Chorus

I go biking in the forest
On the winding trails,
When the sun is burning hot.
My friends come too
And when we reach the lake,
That's the place we stop.

Chorus

EAGLE ROCK
© 2007 Dease Lake School, Dease Lake BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Eagle Rock

Chorus
Eagle Rock is where we go
And if you climb up to the top
You can see the Tahltan River flow
Eagle Rock is where we love to walk
The world is at your feet
At Eagle Rock.

You can still see the caves
People lived in long ago
Up on Eagle Rock
Where the soap berries grow
Where the First Nations hunted
With their arrows and their bows
High above the valley far below

Chorus

The hawks soar and circle
In the clear blue sky
The ravens full of mischief
Are never far behind
In the mountain silence
You can hear their cry
Way up where the eagles fly.

Chorus

EVERY CHILD
© 2008 Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, Westbank BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Every Child

Chorus
Every child has a heart
Every child is a friend
Every child gets a chance
To make a difference in the end

We learn to love
We love to learn
We walk in faith
With Jesus at every turn
We've got a school
Where we can grow
It's a special place
Our Lady of Lourdes where…

Chorus

Reach down inside
And lend a hand
You can help a child
Just listen and understand
Here at our school
We try to care
For other children
Everywhere, 'cause…

Chorus x2

Yes, we'll make a difference in the end

FALLING FEATHER
© 2006 Bamfield Community School, Grade 4-9, Bamfield BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Falling Feather

Chorus
Falling feather, falling down,
Down where I am, here on the ground,
A gift from an eagle, up in the sky,
Picking me up, bringing me luck, helping me fly.

Down at Brady's Beach, you can see the open ocean,
Feel the pounding of the surf, as it crashes on the shore.
I come to watch the sunset, beyond the Broken Islands,
When the sky is glowing crimson, up where the eagles soar.

Chorus

Walking along the sand, one day I saw a feather
Falling from the sky, and I caught it in my hand.
I held it like a treasure, like a blessing from the elders,
And circling far above me, I could hear the eagles cry.

Chorus x 2

FIFTY FEET FROM THE FINISH LINE
© 2007 Kaien Island Alternate School/Friendship House, Prince Rupert, BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Fifty Feet from the Finish Line

I was fifty feet from the finish line
And the rain was pourin' down
My feet pounding hard against the ground
I could not hear a sound

Chorus
Don't give up,
You're almost there
Don't lose hope,
You've come so far.

Everybody thought I would finish first
And I don't wanna let 'em down
But my legs feel like they're made of stone
And I could pack it in right now.

Chorus

Bridge:
Just when you think you can't go on
You get a second wind
And start to feel so strong.

I can hear the crowd shoutin' out my name
Rain drippin' off my brow
I'm gonna cross that line, gonna show 'em all
Nothing's gonna stop me now.

Repeat Chorus

FUNKY MONKEY
© 2007 Robson Community School, Bamfield BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Funky Monkey

I was walking in the jungle, I could not believe my eyes
When I saw the funky monkey get a great surprise.
He was sitting on an anthill, but he did not see the ants
When all of a sudden, he began to dance.

Chorus
The funky monkey is kind of crazy,
Does the disco, even though he's lazy,
He puts bananas in his coffee,
Tops it of with chewy toffee
That's why we all call him
The funky monkey.

I was driving in the city, and I very nearly crashed
Almost hit the funky monkey, he was speeding way too fast.
He was in a hot pink sports car with a spoiler on the back
When he swerved across the traffic just to get himself a snack.

Chorus

I was sailing in the ocean, I was sure I saw a shark,
But it was just the funky monkey swimming in the dark.
He was wearing purple swim trunks, and he climbed into my boat.
He told me he was thirsty, then he stole my root beer float.

Chorus

FUN IN THE SUN
© 2007 Conrad Elementary, Prince Rupert BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Fun in the Sun

Chorus
Fun in the sun, school is history,
Summer's just begun, and it does this to me.
I'm feelin' so free, bursting with energy,
I'm having fun in the sun.

I go swimming down at Rainbow Lake,
On sunny afternoons,
There's castles out of sand to make
So many things to do,
Like catching fish on days like this,
Throw frisbees in the air,
And friends are with me everywhere.

Chorus

I go biking down the mountain
With my friends not far behind.
It gets your heart to poundin'
When you take a jump and fly.
There's frogs to catch on lily pads,
You can watch the salmon run,
Tell stories til the day is done.

Chorus

FIGHTING FOR LOVE
© 2006 Parkhill Elemenatary, Dawson Creek BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Fighting for Love

Chorus
Fighting for love, to make this world free,
They're so far from home, over the sea.
They're fighting for us,
They're fighting for love.

They left their friends and their families
To fight for their country
Left hopes and their dreams far behind.
They traded their shoes in for new army boots and
They didn't know what they would find.

Chorus

The trenches were muddy, and soldiers were falling,
And the cold chilled them right to the bone.
But they didn't give up, no they didn't back down,
Til the battle was over and won.

Chorus

FREEDOM ISN'T FREE
© 2006 Sunshine Coast Alternate School and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Freedom Isn't Free

Chorus
Freedom isn't free
It costs a lot to win
It's something we can't see
But that's where life begins
It's what we need to be
But freedom isn't free.

They fought a war that ended back in '45
We watched our mothers crying
As our fathers said goodbye.
They risked their lives for liberty,
So their children could live peacefully
They left us with this legacy
For us to keep alive.

Chorus

I'm standing in a meadow with my little girl,
She takes this for granted
She's new to the world.
She does not know the history
She has not seen the tragedy,
The gift they gave humanity
'Cause she still hasn't heard (that)

Chorus

FRIENDS ARE LIKE NOODLES
© 2006 Ecole College Heights Elementary School, Prince George BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Friends are Like Noodles

Chorus
Friends are like noodles
They're all different kinds
Everyone should have oodles
Of every design
In all different colours
Saucy or plain
There's never two noodles
Exactly the same.

Noodles are fun to play with, no matter what the flavour
Some are cheesy, some are messy
It's just how they're created.
Macaroni bounces, spaghettini twirls
Tortellini's totally awesome
Just like boys and girls.

Chorus

Noodles are always noodles, no matter what the sauce is
Friends will bring you comfort
No matter what the cost is.
Fettuccini's filling, angel hair's divine
Lasagna saves your life and
Linguini makes you shine.

Chorus

FRIENDS COME FROM THE HEART
© 2006 Canalta Elementary School, Dawson Creek BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Friends Come from the Heart

Chorus
Friends come from the heart
And friends will always care.
And when you're apart
You can always hold them there.
You can count on them right from the start,
'Cause friends come from the heart.

I've got a friend, his name is Jim
I can always depend on him.
We like to run in the summer sun
Skipping stones and having fun,
And Jim will always listen, he never walks away,
When times are tough, he cheers me up,
That's why I have to say…

Chorus

And then there's Sue, and she's like that too,
She likes to do the same things I do.
We like to talk, take afternoon walks,
Telling our secrets and sharing thoughts.
And Sue is like a treasure, 'cause she takes me as I am,
When I feel down, she sticks around
And that's why she's my friend.

Chorus

FRIENDS FOREVER
© 2006 Ucluelet Elementary School Grade 3-4, Ucluelet BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Friends Forever

Chorus
Friends forever, friends for life
You'll always be a friend of mine.
We'll make a promise, give our word,
We'll be friends until the end of time.

You're the best friend I ever had,
I can always count on you.
You're thoughtful and you listen and you like the things,
That I like to do.

Chorus

Down at Wickaninnish in the summertime,
We surf and swim and play,
Build castles in the sun on the sandy beach,
That's where we stay all day.

Chorus X2

FRIENDS FOREVER II
© 2006 Tumbler Ridge Elementary School, Tumbler Ridge BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Friends Forever II

Chorus
We'll be friends forever,
Best of friends together.
I'll always be there when you call,
I'll try to catch you when you fall,
We'll be together, standing tall,
Friends forever, forever friends forever.

We grew up together, you lived just down the street,
There was an old oak tree where we used to meet.
We would lie there for hours throwing rocks in the stream,
Shared our secrets and hopes and dreams.

Chorus

We went sledding in December, and swimming in July
I can still remember those days gone by.
Now that we are older, many things have changed,
But one thing remains the same…

Chorus

HAPPY YOU'RE HERE
© 2007 Eagle Ridge Elementary School, Coquitlam BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Happy You're Here

Chorus
We're happy you're here
You're welcome to stay
We want you to know
We're glad that you came.
We're happy you're here
Make yourself at home,
Let's all give a cheer,
'Cause we're happy you're here.

I can see that you're new
Won't you tell me your name
I can show you a round
Then we'll go play a game.
There's so much to do
And you can be part
We can make a brand new start.

Chorus

So don't be afraid, it'll all be okay
Everyone's special in their own way,
You'll make lots of friends, have lots of fun
And you know we've just begun.

Chorus

HERE COMES UNDERDOG
© 2008 Mountain View Elementary School, Coquitlam BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Here Comes Underdog

We're lost at sea, it's getting dark
The waves are huge, I see a shark.
He's circling round, we're going down,
Can this be true? What will we do?

Chorus:
Here comes Underdog
Through the wind and through the fog
He's our hero, he's our friend
He'll save us once again.
Here comes Underdog
Flying at the speed of zog
He'll be with us to the end
It's Underdog again

And now he's here, but he's too small
Even Underdog can't lift us all
Our only hope if he has a rope
Is to tie our boat and pull us home

Chorus

He ties it on, the shark is mad
Tries to attack, he's coming fast
No need to fear, we're out of here
Thanks Underdog, we're in the clear.

HERE WITH YOU

  -- listen to
Here With You

Chorus
Here with you, I belong,
A love like this can't be wrong,
I never dreamed, I never knew,
That I'd find love here with you.

When I saw you at the party in your silky dress,
Your smile was like the silver,
You wore around your neck.
When I saw your face, bright and clear,
Everybody else, seemed to disappear.

Chorus

When I walked towards you
And I asked your name,
Your voice was like an angel
I've never felt the same.
Ever since, our first kiss,
Tjere's been nothing else
That feels like this.

Chorus

HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES
© 2007 Twin Rivers Elementary School, Castlegar BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
He Shoots, He Scores

Chorus
He shoots, he scores,
And everybody roars
We'll win, this game,
Gonna make it to the hall of fame.

If we win tonight, we'll make it to the playoffs.
If we get it right, we'll take it all the way.
We've been training hard all year,
It's time to put on all our gear,
And show the world that we know how to play.

Chorus

The fans are here, they're filling up the bleachers
The other team is pumped, they're playing pretty rad.
Nobody's giving in, we both want to win
Everybody wants these playoffs bad.

Chorus

Now we're tied three-three, going in to overtime
We're one man short, when Tommy intercepts a pass
He gets a breakaway
He's got to save the day
He takes his shot on goal lightning fast.

Last Chorus
He shoots, He scores
And everybody roars
We've won, this game
Gonna make it to the hall of fame.

HILLS OF HOMEWORK

  -- listen to
Hills of Homework

Chorus
I've got hills of homework, what a mess
Tonight I won't get any rest
Someone save me SOS
I've got hills of homework, sitting on my desk

My teacher told me it was due last Friday
And she'll scold me if I don't get it done
This long division has got me wishin'
That I was fishin'
And having fun

Chorus

And did I mention…
I've got a headache
And a detention
And it really hurts
I'm feeling lazy
And kind of hazy
I'm going crazy
I'm gonna burst!

Chorus

Hills of homework SOS

HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH
© 2008 McCloskey Elementary, Delta BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Hold Your Head Up High

When you're down on your luck,
And you feel like giving up,
You can turn it all around,
Get your feet back on the ground.

CHORUS
Hold your head up high,
You can do it if you try,
When you're reaching for the sky,
Your dreams will never die.
You know that you'll succeed,
So set your spirit free,
You might even fly,
Hold your head up high.

When it's one of those days,
And skies are dark and gray,
Just jump right out of bed,
There's a brand new day ahead.

CHORUS

It's a choice that you make,
It's your world to create,
It's all there inside,
If you just let it shine.

CHORUS

HOME OF THE NISGA'A NATION
© 2007 Lowry Olafson
and Songwriting Class at Nisga'a Elementary School, New Aiyansh BC

  -- listen to
Home of the Nisga'a Nation

Chorus
In the valley where the Nass River flows
That's the home of the Nisga'a Nation.
On the mountains where the cedar forest grows,
That's the home of the Nisga'a Nation.

The Eagle and the Killer Whale
The Raven and the Wolf live there.
The Land of the beaver, frog and owl and bear.
It's the place they're free to roam
The part of earth that we call home
And we need to treat this land with care.

Chorus

In the spring when the oolichan run
Just before the salmon come,
Such a beautiful sight in the Land of the Rising Sun
Where the Totem Pole was born
And the Chilkat first was worn,
It's the place where we will always live as one.

Chorus

HOPE IS LIKE A CHICKEN
© 2006 Springwood Elementary School, Pr George BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Hope is Like a Chicken

Hope is like a chicken walkin down the street
He might be panic stricken, but he's still on his feet.
He's still got his heart, and if he keeps his head,
If he keeps on believing, who knows where this road will end.

Chorus
Keep going, keep trying,
Never quit, keep flying,
Have fun, hang on,
Love life, hold strong.

Life is like an eagle, soaring thru the skies
He's free to spread his wings and go, anywhere his heart desires
He can fly up to the heavens, thru all the ups and downs
If he learns to let the currents lift him off the ground.

Chorus

Faith is like a turtle, who lays her eggs down in the sand
She leaves them there forever, and does not come back again
There's only some that make it, from the nest down to the sea
But that mama turtle knows that's how it has to be.

Chorus x2

I'LL BE THERE
© 2007 Lakalzap Elementary, Greenville BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
I'll Be There

Chorus
I'll be there
When you're down
No matter what
I'll stick around
When you feel alone
Oh don't despair
You can count on me
Cause I'll… be there

You can always make me smile
Always got a kind word to say
You never fail to stand up for me
Each and every day…
When I'm feeling full of doubt
You're there to help me out
And I just gotta say
That I will always feel the same

Chorus

So many things we like to share
And we've got a common point of view
Did I tell you I believe in you
And I know that you… do… too
We will be forever friends
Stay together till the end
My heart is with you everywhere
You know I'll always care.

Chorus

IT COMES ALIVE
© 2007 Creston Community Alliance for Literacy, Creston BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
It Comes Alive

Chorus
It comes alive,
Like darkness turning into light,
Warmth within the coldest night
Passion rising like a kite,
It comes alive.

Pick yourself up off the floor
You've found something worth living for
You can see it coming clear
All your worries disappear.

Chorus

And maybe then, you'll understand
What you once thought would never end
So close your eyes, dry your tears
Let go of all your fears

Chorus

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME
© 2008 Sun Haven School, Roberts Creek BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
It's Been a Long Time

So many memories,
We've come so far.
We're like a family,
Look at where we are,
From kindergarten
To graduation day.

Chorus:
It's been a long time
It's been a long time
We've been growing together
Seems like I've known you forever
And it's been a long time.

We keep on learning
Head, Heart and Hands,
We help each other
To understand.
We're on a journey,
A path that never ends.

Chorus

And now we're leaving
And saying goodbye,
But we've got a history
That's never gonna die.
I'm going to miss you,
But I'll hold you in my heart.

Chorus

IT'S GONNA BE OKAY
© 2007 St. Michael's Elementary School, Trail BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
It's Gonna Be Okay

Chorus
There was a storm at midnight
It was pouring rain,
And when the lightning flashed,
It was as bright as day.
But you were there beside me,
So I was not afraid.
As long as we're together,
It's gonna be okay.

We were sitting by the fire, it was way past time for bed.
I thought I felt some raindrops falling on my head.
The wind began to blow, the trees began to sway.
We battened down our tent, so it wouldn't blow away.

Chorus

We ran into the tent, huddled safe and dry,
Jumped into our sleeping bags, while the thunder roared outside.
We didn't sleep a wink, but we were nice and warm,
And when the sun arose, we knew we'd made it through the storm.

Chorus

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE

It's Never Too Late

Chorus:
It's never too late,
So don't give up,
Don't ever lose faith,
'Cause it's never too late.

Amy isn't smiling,
Not like she used to do.
The house is dark and silent,
Her Mom is sleeping in the next room.
The doctor said, "She needs her rest,
We're going to try and do our best
But you can help her too."

Chorus

Amy sits beside her
Because she understands.
She tells her not to worry,
She'll be there to hold her hand.
"I know that you'll get better soon,
You know how much we all love you,
And Mom there's one thing you can do."

Chorus

IT'S RAINING CASH
© 2006 Boston Bar Elementary/Secondary School, Grade 4-7, Boston Bar BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
It's Raining Cash

What's that rustling noise outside my window?
It doesn't sound familiar to me.
I should get out of bed and check it out
'Cause it's aroused my curiosity.

Chorus
It's raining cash!
Oh yes it is, so
I'll get my dump truck
And fill it up-so,
We'll all be rich,
Won't have to work now.
Quick as a flash,
It's raining cash.

And when I opened my door,
My dog was whimpering,
He was covered in hundred dollar bills.
I looked up to the sky, money was floating down,
Hiding all the hills.

Chorus

Then my alarm went off
And that's what spoiled it all
That's what ruined my perfect dream.
And now I'm late for work
Because my truck won't start
And all I want to do is scream ...

Chorus

I WISH FOR YOU
© 2007 Fruitvale Elementary School, Fruitvale BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
I Wish For You

Chorus
I wish for you a field of gold
A sky of blue, a hand to hold.
A life that's long, a heart that's true.
All of this and more I wish for you.

There's always a rainbow after the rain
There's always tomorrow to help ease the pain
There's always a star bright
To wish on a dark night
Make everything all right
All over again.

Chorus

Some people believe to make wishes come true
You just have to imagine and next thing they do.
If you never give up
When you're down on your luck,
That might just be enough
For someone like you.

Chorus

JEEPERS CREEPERS
© 2006 Gill Elementary School, Pt Alberni BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Jeepers Creepers

Jeepers Creepers, what's that sound?
I hear something underground.
I feel like there's something near,
Knees are trembling with fear.
Things aren't what they seem
Because it's Halloween.

Jeepers Creepers, cats and bats,
Chocolate candy, stuff like that.
Fill your bag with lots of treats,
Forget about the cavities!
And if your face turns green,
It must be Halloween.

Chorus
And if you're walking out in the moonlight,
You'd better watch your back
There could be monsters down in the shadows,
You'd make a tasty snack!

Jeepers Creepers, witches brew,
They may cast a spell on you.
Spiders crawling from their webs,
Mummies come back from the dead.
It's such a spooky scene, because it's Halloween.

Chorus

Repeat 1st verse

JUST SAY HI
© 2008 Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, Vancouver, BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Just Say Hi

Chorus
Just say hi, just say hello
When you make a start
Then you never know
You could change the world
You could make a friend
So don't be shy, just say hi.

If there's a new kid in school
There's something you can do
To welcome them so they won't feel alone.
'Cause everybody needs someone
To brighten up their day,
A word from you can make them feel at home.

CHORUS

When you put yourself in someone's shoes,
See what they're going through,
You might find that they're a lot like you.
And peace will fill our hearts
If we all do our part
Reach out our hand
And say "How do you do?"

CHORUS

Don't give up the fight
Try with all your might, 'cause you know
It's gonna be alright

You know you're on your way
You know, it's gonna be okay

Keep On Going

Chorus
Keep on going, don't stop now,
Keep on singing, you know how,
Keep on shining like the sun
Keep on going, everyone!

We all start in kindergarten, there's so much to learn,
ABCs and one, two, threes, saying thank you, saying please.
As we move from grade to grade, we make friends along the way,
And if you need a hand,
There's someone there to understand.

Chorus

Once you've been to Vanway School, you never want to leave,
There's slides and swings, lots of things
And a great big evergreen.
The Vanway Vikings do their best, the Vanway Trebles do the rest,
As they sing their song, we all cheer them on.

Chorus

KIDS FOREVER

  -- listen to
Kids Forever

Chorus
We wanna be kids forever,
Don't want to grow up, not ever,
We wanna have fun together,
We wanna be free.
We wanna be kids forever,
We wanna be young whatever,
There's nothing that could be better,
Free as can be.

Kids have got it made
Cuz they get to play all day.
If they stay up late on weekends,
Then they can sleep in late.
Kids can kick a football,
And they can change all the rules,
Kids don't get embarrassed,
Even when they act like fools.

Chorus
Kids never seem to tire,
They're so full of energy,
They run around like crazy,
With no responsibility.
Kids go to the carnival,
They go on all the rides,
They get their kicks and don't get sick,
When they're spinning in the sky.

Chorus

Keep Their Memories Alive

A letter came this morning from far across the sea.
It said my son would never be coming home to me.
It said he was courageous, it said he didn't run.
It said that I should always be proud of my son.

Chorus
I still miss him so, and I will not forget
When I see the poppies grow, the legacy he left.
For the freedom we have now, so many gave their lives
And we must keep their memories alive.

I remember when he left, the day he said goodbye
He promised he would write me,
He told me not to cry.
The last time that I saw him, he was waving from the train,
Standing in his uniform, as it pulled away.

Chorus

Life is going my way.
Life is going my way, yeah, yeah,
Life is going my way.

It's been long and rocky road,
But it's okay.
I'm growing stronger in my heart, everyday.
I've learned a lot
About who I am,
I'm brave enough to answer "Yes, I can!"

Chorus

We all want to make the world a better place.
I found out that it's alright to make mistakes.
I've got friends that stick beside me,
And I'm with them,
So I've just got to tell you once again ...

I'm lost in the jungle
Don't know where to go
I'm hungry and scared
I'm out here all alone.
Lions are roaring,
The rain keeps on pouring,
I'm lost in the jungle,
Can't find my way home.

We were out in safari, I fell off the truck,
Nobody noticed, what terrible luck!
It's dark and it's creepy, there's snakes in the trees,
Gorillas and tigers, all eyes are on me.

Chorus

The cheetahs are hungry, I look like a snack.
I hope they don't eat me, I've got to get back,
But somebody's coming, who is that man?
He's here to save me, hey look, it's Tarzan!

It began as one man's dream
And now it still survives,
The Marathon of Hope brought this world together
And changed us all forever.

To help to find a cure, to lend a helping hand.
He thought that he could make it
"Dreams are made if people try"
He set off from St. John's
Beneath an April Sky.

Chorus

Terry had to stop one day in Thunderbay,
'Cause tho he tried his best
He couldn't make it all the way.
And now it's up to us
To carry on what he began
And follow in the steps that Terry ran.

Mighty McCracken

He's sitting in is office when the sun comes up,
Drinking something awful from his coffee cup,
He heads down to the gym to keep the kids on track,
Plays a little badminton and skips right back.

Chorus
Mighty McCracken keeps us all laughing
Here at Bert Ambrose School.
He wears a Scooby Doo tie, makes the time fly,
And everybody thinks he's cool.

He never has a lot of time to eat his lunch
'Cause he'd rather come and spend it hanging out with us.
He dances up a storm until the class bell rings,
He loves "The Muffin Man" and that's the song he sings.

Chorus

When the day is over and the kids head home,
He's still I his office, talking on the phone.
Then he parties with the teachers till the sun goes down,
He's mighty as a king and funny as a clown.

Mrs. Abe Behave!

Chorus
Mrs. Abe, Behave! You never do
You never act your age
So I'm telling you
You've got a stubborn side
You always break the rules
You make us run and hide
So Mrs. Abe, behave!

She hasn't changed a bit
Ever since grade six
She's wild and she's mischievous
Like a bobcat in a fix
She likes to be obeyed
She likes to get her way
Shes sassy and she's dangerous
And I've just got to say ...

Chorus

She gives us so much work
It makes my mind go mush.
It seems like she's oblivious
When she makes us blush
You could say that she's high maintenance
And she thinks she makes our day
She's silly as a chimpanzee
So, I've just got to say…

Chorus

MY DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK
© 2007 Tahayghen Elementary, Masset BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
My Dog Ate My Homework

My dog ate my homework, it's slimy and chewed,
Will the teacher believe me, or think it's not true?
What if she scolds me, and I get a detention,
Or a suspension? I don't know what I'll do.

My dog ate my homework. It isn't my fault.
My mom didn't feed him, and she's an adult.
How could anyone blame me? I had it al finished.
He thought it was spinach, all covered in salt.

My dog ate my homework, so I threw it away.
I put it in the garbage, and they took it today.
So don't call my parents, I know I can't prove it.
But I really did do it, what else can I say?

You've lost that sparkle in your eye,
You feel you can't go on.
Tears have washed away your smile,
But it's always darkest
Just before the dawn.

Chorus
Never say never,
When the going gets tough.
It can only get better,
So don't give up.
If you follow your dreams,
Hold them close to your heart,
Forever and ever
Never say never.

Tomorrow is another day,
The start of something new.
When the sky looks bleak and grey,
Just remember
I believe in you.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

  -- listen to
No Place Like Home

Chorus
No place like home,
Nowhere I know,
Where the eagles fly,
And the caribou roam.
No place like this, canyons of stone,
Where the Stikine River flows,
No place like home.

Telegraph Creek flows right through town
On Tahltan Nation land
We still fish for salmon, just like they did back then.
We run across "Big Log",
Climb right up the hill,
And when we reach the road,
We take a break and chill.

Chorus

There's poplar trees growing everywhere,
And grizzly bears around.
The Sawtooth Mountains come alive
When the sun goes down.
We go biking in the summer, skidooing in the snow,
There's always lots to do
With everyone you know.

Chorus

No Place Like Nukko Lake

Chorus
Open spaces, smiling faces,
Everywhere you go,
There's no place like Nukko Lake,
That's why we love our home.

When I wake up in the morning, sunshine on the poplar trees,
I go running for the bus, say goodbye to my family.
My friends are waiting, there's so much to say,
Talk about what we're gonna do today,
Waving to all the people on the way.

Chorus

Every day's a new adventure when you live in Nukko Lake
There's bear and deer and beaver, cause here they still feel safe.
You can ride a horse, you can row a boat,
You can catch a fish, you can swim and float,
And everywhere you look, there's someone that you know.

Northern Treasure

Chorus
Northern treasure, white as winter snow,
Beyond measure, more precious than people know,
Courageous creature, so wild and so rare,
Our northern treasure, the Spirit Bear.

Along the west coast, north of the Skeena River,
That's the only place you'll find the Spirit Bear.
It roams the river valleys catching salmon in the creeks,
And climbs up to the top of the highest peaks.

Chorus

When the Northern Lights float across the sky,
You can see nature's magic in the wilderness.
This land needs our protection, and it needs our care,
It's the home and the heart of the Spirit Bear.

Chorus

NOTHING CAN STOP US NOW

Nothing Can Stop Us Now

Chorus
Nothing can stop us now, we'll do what we think we can,
We're not afraid to try, we know we can take a stand.
We might need a helping hand, sometimes we don't know how,
You know I believe in you
And nothing can stop us now.

If you're feeling scared, you can talk to me,
'Cause I'm your friend and you and I have always been a team.
If we keep this up, we're gonna be just fine,
We can change this world forever, make it shine.

Short Chorus
Nothing can stop us now,
We're not afraid to try.
You know I believe in you,
And nothing can stop us now.

We want to live in peace, wouldn't that be great?
And if we care enough, we'll make this world a better place.
It's gonna take some work, it's gonna take some heart
But if we stick together, it will be a work of art.

NOW'S THE TIME

Now's the Time

From finger paints to algebra
From crayons to pastels,
We've always been the best of friends,
We know each other well.
We held each other's secrets,
We held each other's hand.
We built our friendship carefully,
Like castles in the sand.

Chorus
Now's the time to say goodbye,
We know it's not forever.
Now's the time to leave behind
The years we shared together.

From hide and seek to broken hearts
From crushes to the Prom,
You were always there for me
Whenever things went wrong.
Remember when we promised,
We'd be forever friends?
This may be goodbye
But this isn't where it ends.

One Big Family

Chorus
There's no place like this
No place I'd rather be
From sea to sea to sea
It's beautiful and free
This country is our home
It's made for you and me
We love this land, so let's join hands
Like one big family.

Canada is where we live
It's the second biggest country that there is
It's a land of hope
It's a land of peace
Where everyone is free
To follow their own dreams

Chorus

Canada is big and bold
Filled with all kinds of people
Young and old
With hearts that glow
And room to grow
And if we stick together
Who knows where we could go.

ONE DAY I'LL BE THERE

  -- listen to
One Day I'll Be There

Chorus
I wish I could believe
My dreams would all come true
I wish that I could be myself
Sometimes that's hard to do,
I wish that I could fly
Way up in the air
There's so many dreams I'm reaching for
And one day I'll be there.

When I was a child
Learning how to crawl,
I'd fall flat on my face,
And I didn't mind at all.
I'd push myself back up
Try and try again
And I never thought of giving in.

Chorus

Now that I have grown
And learned a little more,
It's not that different
From how it was before
pick myself back up
Every time I fall,
Next thing I know, I'm standing tall.

Chorus

ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

  -- listen to
On the First Day of School

Chorus
On the first day of school
Everybody feels shy
Everybody feels scared
Everybody feels new
But when you make some friends
Learn a few names
You feel so cool
On the first day of school.

With my brand new shoes, and my hair combed back,
I kissed my mom, and I grabbed my snack,
Headed off to catch the bus to school.
I was wondering what to expect.
I didn't know anybody yet.
I didn't even know what I should do.

Chorus

When the recess bell rang at ten o'clock,
We went outside and began to talk,
Found a ball and tossed it round and round.
Next thing we knew, we were full of joy,
Felt at home every girl and boy,
Thanks to al the new friends that we'd found.

Chorus

PEOPLE LIKE THAT

  -- listen to
People Like That

Chorus
They feel the passion, they feel the pain
They wake up every morning, set to seize the day
They are such an inspiration, nothing they can't do
And people like that make me feel it too.

Eva has a dream, she carries in her heart
She's reaching for the stars, she knows just where to start
She keeps both feet on the ground, and a sparkle in her eye
Even when she's down, she holds her head up high.

Chorus 2:
She feels the passion, she feels the pain
She wakes up every morning, set to seize the day
She's such an inspiration, nothing she can't do
And people like that make me feel it too.

Adam has a gift, as precious as a pearl,
He's got his mind made up, he wants to share it with the world.
He wants to make a difference with his life
He wants to do his part
He wants to leave a trail of hope, and open some hearts

Chorus 3:
He feels the passion, he feels the pain
He wakes up every morning, set to seize the day
He's such an inspiration, nothing he can't do
And people like him, make me feel it too

Repeat Chorus 1

Rainbow Of Peace

Chorus
I see a rainbow of peace
Up in the sky, above us,
I dream this rainbow will grow
And colour the world with love.

The grass is green, the ocean blue,
Every raindrop makes this true
The sun is gold, the poppies red,
And they all need each other.

Chorus

This is our home, it's what we share
Many colours everywhere
Red and yellow, green and blue
Side by side together.

Chorus

REMEMBER THE TIME

  -- listen to
Remember the Time

I was down at the park, sitting by river,
When you came walking by.
You had a blue bandana holding back your hair,
And that's when you said "Hi."

Chorus
Remember the time,
The day that we met?
Seems like yesterday,
I'll never forget.
I remember the time,
Cause ever since then,
You and I have always been
The very best of friends.

You came and sat down beside me and we talked for awhile,
I didn't even know your name,
But the way you listened and the way you smiled,
I could see we were the same.

Chorus

When we said good-bye, You took your bandana and you offered it to me. I put it in my pocket to remember you, And the friends we'd always be.

Chorus

SANTA CLAUS WAS LATE FOR CHRISTMAS
© 2006 Ron Brent Elementary School, Pr George BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Santa Claus was Late for Christmas

Chorus
Santa Claus was late for Christmas one cold Christmas Eve
Everyone was wondering just where could Santa be?
Is he stuck in traffic somewhere in the sky,
Or in somebody's chimney way up high?
Did an avalanche come down, and sweep him off his sleigh?
Will Santa make it here by Christmas Day?

The North Pole is a busy place to be
Santa and his elves are working constantly.
Hammers banging, scissors snipping,
Brushes painting, the clock is ticking.
The toys must all be done by Christmas Eve.

Chorus

Rudolph's got a problem with his nose.
He blew a fuse and it no longer glows.
Elves are scurrying, Santa's worrying,
They're all frantic, in a panic.
Can they fix it up? Nobody knows.

Chorus
Amidst the chaos, someone shouts "Hooray!"
They found a disco ball in Santa's sleigh.
They got some glue, a little wire,
Now it's flashing like a fire,
That blinking disco ball has saved the day.

2nd Chorus
Santa Claus was late for Christmas one cold Christmas Eve
Everyone was wondering just where could Santa be?
But take a look, what's coming in the sky?
Is that a comet, flying way up high?
It's Santa and his reindeer, and though they're a little late,
They still made it here by Christmas Day!

SANTA STOLE MY HOMEWORK
© 2007 Ecole Willow Point Elementary and Lowry Olafson, Campbell River BC

  -- listen to
Santa Stole My Homework

Santa stole my homework on my way to school.
I know it isn't like him, usually he's so cool.
He snatched it from my backpack,
And stuffed it in his sack,
Santa stole my homework, and he won't give it back!

Santa stole my homework, it's crazy, but it's true
So please, Monsieur Koebel, je ne sais pas, what should I do?
He took it to the North Pole,
Where it's snowy and it's cold
Santa stole my homework, now it's prob'ly turned to mold!

Santa stole my homework, so am I off the hook?
I think you should trust me, you really shouldn't look
Gee, looks like you found it,
I guess I left it in my desk,
I thought Santa stole my homework,
Monsieur Koebel you're the best!
I thought Santa stole my homework
But I was wrong I guess!

SECRETS OF THE DEEP
© 2007 Ecole Westview School, Prince Rupert BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Secrets of the Deep

The secrets of the deep, the secrets of the deep.
The secrets of the deep are way beneath the surface,
Where no man can ever go.
You'll need your submarine to find the sunken treasure
That's sitting on the sand below.
The secrets of the deep, the secrets of the deep.

On the ocean floor, you can see it out your window.
But look out for the hungry shark.
If he sees you coming, he'll rip your sub to pieces,
You're gonna have to be so smart.
The secrets of the deep, the secrets of the deep.

Chorus
We're gonna be brave,
We're gonna be bold,
We're gonna be rich,
We're gonna find gold.

Everybody knows a shark cannot swim backwards,
We'll get him stuck between the rocks.
And while he's in a daze, we'll throw a net around it,
And float the treasure to the top.
The secrets of the deep, the secrets of the deep.

Chorus

The secrets of the deep, the secrets of the deep,
The secrets of the deep.

SHATTERED DREAMS
© 2006 Blackburn Elementary School, Prince George BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Shattered Dreams

Chorus
Shattered dreams, broken hearts,
When your world falls apart
When hope is lost, and times are tough
Hold on tight, don't give up.

Joey always had a dream, that one day he would play
Right up there with the pros, until that tragic day.
Now he can't walk and he can't skate,
That accident has changed his fate
He's lying in bed and he can't move
It's not an easy road to take…

Chorus

Joey has a special girl, she's not about to leave him now.
She's praying for a miracle, she knows he'll make it through somehow.
She sits there and holds his hand,
Tells him he will walk again,
She's always going to be his friend, together til the end…

Chorus

SPARKLES IN MY HEART

  -- listen to
Sparkles in My Heart

It's a great big world we share with everyone
And we all love to dance beneath the sun.
Everybody loves their friends and their family.
You can feel the love that shines in you and me.

Chorus
I've got sparkles in my heart
And they're dancing like a starbright
Got a love big as a mountain,
And it bubbles like a fountain.
Oooh Ooooh, yeah.

And we all have so much that we can give,
To make our home a better place to live.
If we let the kindness flow, perhaps we'll see,
So everybody, sing along with me

Chorus

SPEAK UP

  -- listen to
Speak Up

I know 'cause I've been there before
You're not the only one who's shy,
Sometimes it's hard to speak your mind,
But I will listen if you try.

Chorus
Speak up, say what's on your mind
Dig deep, see what you can find,
Tell the world, so everyone can hear.
Speak up, don't be afraid to shine,
Stand tall, you've got it all inside,
Shout it out, say it loud and clear.

You know, you gotta take a chance,
It takes courage every day.
We each have to find our voice,
We all have something to say.

Chorus

Good things come when people talk
When we share, it sets us free.
Friendship comes from reaching out
We can't solve what we can't see.

Chorus

STAND TALL
© 2006 Maquinna Elementary School, Pt Alberni BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Stand Tall

Chorus
Stand strong, stand tall.
Show the world that you can give your all,
'Cause you know, there's hope,
And even when you're feeling small,
Stand tall.

When you walk up to the stage, and you feel a little scared,
Your stomach's in a knot, 'cause it's your turn to go on.
You could use a little boost, to remind yourself to smile,
You could use a little love, 'til the butterflies are gone.

Chorus

When you're walking home from school, and there's a bully being cruel,
Picking on a little kid, who could really use a friend,
And you want to help him out, even though you're scared yourself,
So you rush up to the scene with a helping hand to lend.

Chorus X2

STRUM THE CHORDS OF NATURE

  -- listen to
Strum The Chords Of Nature

Chorus
Strum the chords of nature
Hum the melody of earth
Play the strings of wilderness
Keep it free forever.

Climb the mountain, look around.
We all live on fragile ground,
This planet is a gift to share
It needs our tender loving care.

Chorus

Feel the wind upon your face.
Take your time, life's not a race.
Let us live in harmony
Raise your voices, sing with me.

Chorus

SUNSHINE ENDS
© 2006 Gibsons Elementary School, Gibsons BC and by Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Sunshine Ends

Chorus
Sunshine ends, when war begins
When loved ones leave
And we miss our friends,
No one wins, when the fighting starts,
Leaving broken hearts,
That's when the sunshine ends.

The poppies grow, and time goes by,
And we can see, where soldiers lie,
Will we ever learn from their sacrifice
That the cost of war is too high a price?

Chorus

The rain will fall, and life goes on
And we all know, that war is wrong
If in our hearts, we can find a way to bring an end
To war some day.

Chorus

SWISH!

  -- listen to
Swish!

Chorus
When the ball goes swish,
It's a perfect shot,
Doesn't touch the rim
Just sinks right in.
It's what I really want,
What I always wish,
When the ball goes swish.

I was dribbling down the court, I thought the coast was clear.
I tried to pass the ball, but someone interfered.
I had to deek him out, so I spun myself around,
Then I took my shot, but it landed out of bounds.

Chorus

The score was tied up tight, with fifteen seconds left.
The fans were going wild, it was anybody's guess
Just who would take control, which team was going to win,
Then I got the ball, and I swished it in!

Chorus

TAKE THE FIRST STEP

  -- listen to
Take the First Step

Chorus
Take the first step
You know you can do it,
Give it your best, put your heart into it.
Follow your dreams, wherever they lead
Woho, take the first step.

Life is a staircase, it keeps right on winding,
We never know where it goes.
We climb at our own pace,
Sometimes we need reminding
With each step, how our confidence grows.

Chorus

It's such an adventure,
A spiraling journey,
When it captures your heart and takes hold.
Feel the wind on your face,
There's no need to worry,
When you reach for your ultimate goal.

Chorus

TEARS FORGE DIAMONDS
© 2006 by Elphinstone Secondary School, Gibsons BC and Lowry Olafson

  -- listen to
Tears Forge Diamonds

Tears forge diamonds,
And we can't see
The broken hearts,
The misery.
The jewels' light blinds us
To the tragedy
And hides the faces of poverty.

Chorus
But we can make a difference
Even if it's small
Every voice that speaks the truth
Takes another brick from the wall.

Tears forge diamonds
You see it every day
People in the streets
We turn and walk away
Sitting in our houses, in our luxury,
How distant it all seems
Watching it on TV.

Chorus (repeat)

THIS SCHOOL IS COOL!

  -- listen to
This School Is Cool!

Our school is cool, you can bend all the rules
We're living proof, kids can play on the roof.
We're sitting on an old volcano,
Everybody skis to school.
When people come here they exclaim, Oh
Man, this school is cool!

Our school is cool, we go on trips to the pool
Got lots of friends, so the fun never ends.
It's kind of like a magic kingdom,
It stands out like a jewel.
If you think so too, why don't you sing some
Man, this school is cool!

     Wake up in the morning,
We can hardly wait to go.
Snap into our skis and go gliding
     Through the snow.

Our school is cool, we're not trying to fool you
We took first place in the cross-country race.
Here at MacLean Elementary
Everybody thinks it's true,
We're the school of the century,
Man, this school is cool!

Our school is cool, you can bend all the rules
We're living proof, kids can play on the roof.
We're sitting on an old volcano,
Everybody skis to school.
When people come here they exclaim, Oh
Man, this school is cool!

Til You Take Your Final Bow

When the lights come up, and you feel the rush
And you have to face the fear,
And you're all alone, now its up to you,
And the crowd begins to cheer.

Chorus
Hold your head up high,
Don't look down,
Keep that music flowin',
Keep your courage goin'.
Don't lose heart,
Don't quit now,
Until you take your final bow.

When you feel the beat, start to tap your feet,
And you begin to play.
So you start to move, cause you've got the groove,
And it carries you away.

Chorus

I was a lonely guy, and I was really shy,
That's how I used to be,
And I didn't see, the possibility,
Till someone said these words to me…

Chorus

The Best School in The West

There's a magic school
Where the mountain peaks
Stand high above the town.
It's the coolest school around.
We like to rock n roll,
We like to take a stroll,
The teachers think we're great,
And everyone's first rate.

Chorus
Valemount Elementary
Is the school that we call home,
Where the kids stick together, never stand alone.
At Valemount Elementary,
We all try to do our best,
Everybody's welcome,
It's the best school in the west.

It's the kind of school
Where there's lots to do
We're on the playground when it's hot
In the gym, __ when its not,
We get a music class,
Where we can play the drums,
And even though you can't chew gum,
It's always lots of fun.

Chorus
